Three Steps to Battle Imposter Syndrome

Let’s talk about imposter syndrome!

Whether you’re a successful multi-millionaire, a student working on earning your degree, or someone working on finding their passions in life, imposter syndrome has hit you at some point in your life.

Imposter syndrome is defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. 'Imposters' suffer from chronic self-doubt and a sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of their competence.”

Here are 3 ways to combat imposter syndrome when it shows up in your life:

LIST IT OUT

Make a list of things you’ve accomplished in your life — big or small, don’t filter just list! When you’re feeling like a failure, an imposter or just unsure of whether or not you can do or accomplish something, refer back to this list to see how much you’ve already done!

NAME THAT BISH

Give your inner mean girl or boy a name, this way, when they pop up talking their usual sh*t about how you’re not good enough to do XYZ, it’ll be easier to disconnect from them.

FACTS > FEELINGS

Remember that your feelings do not equal facts. Sometimes we may feel as if we’re imposters, unaccomplished, unable to do a certain thing, but feeling this way does not make it fact. Often, in these high emotion states, we skew our realities and allow ourselves to create a new narrative where we’re not good enough or an imposter in our own lives, which is simply not true!
